The Wonderful Benefits of Chia Seeds + 2 Delicious Recipes

Recipes, Uncategorized

Hello my beautiful readers,

How are you all doing this fine day! For today I wanted to talk with you about Chia seed and all of it’s wonderful health benefits.

Chia seed is an amazing superfood that is both inexpensive and very simple to add into your daily diet. You can add them to your salads, cereal or oatmeal, yogurt, cakes, pancakes, drinks and so much more. Chia seeds are very versatile because they are flavorless. It doesn’t matter if your putting them in either a sweet or savory dish or drink they won’t change how it tastes only the texture.

Now whilst Chia seeds may be flavorless they are however packed with a bunch of amazing health benefits! Some I’ll list below..

Some of the wonderful health benefits of Chia seeds are….

  1. Packed full of antioxidants. They actually contain 3x more antioxidants then blueberries
  2. Helps you feel fuller, which is a huge help if you have trouble with over eating
  3. Keep your hair, skin and nails healthy and strong
  4. High in Potassium
  5. High in Calicum
  6. High in Iron
  7. High in Omega-3 fatty acids
  8. High in Magnesium
  9. Contain more niacin then corn, rice and soy
  10. Strengthens the immune system
  11. Boosts your energy levels
  12. Helps with weight loss

Now we’ve reached my favorite part of this post, THE RECIPES!!

It was pretty difficult choosing only two recipes to feature on this post, just search “chia seed recipes” on Google and you’ll see why, but since space was limited I ended up choosing two recipes I think will appeal to everyone since they are two classics: brownies and pancakes.

These two recipes I got of the sites All Day I Dream About Food and Two Peas And Their Pod. Maria, Josh and Carolyn are so creative and talented with the content they put out. Their recipes are always so eye catching and mouth watering, I could honestly spend hours going through their site.

On the top I’ve made their site names clickable so you can go straight to their sites if you want to check out more of the recipes they’ve shared and learn more about them.

Mocha Chocolate Chunk Chia Seed Brownies

This delicious brownie recipe is by Carolyn Ketchum from All Day I Dream About Food.

Original Post: http://www.bobsredmill.com/blog/special-diets/fiber-on-a-low-carb-diet

  • ¾ cup Chia Seed Meal (about ½ cup whole seeds – I grind them in my coffee grinder)
  • ¾ cup Swerve Sweetener or other Erythritol
  • ½ tsp Baking Soda
  • ¼ tsp Salt
  • ½ cup Butter
  • 3 oz Unsweetened Chocolate
  • 4 large Eggs
  • ¼ cup strongly brewed Coffee
  • 2 oz Dark Chocolate Chunks (70 to 90% cacao)

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9 x 9 square baking pan. Line with parchment paper, with some overhanging the sides for easy release. Grease parchment.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together chia seed meal, sweetener, baking soda and salt.
  • In a large saucepan over low heat, melt butter and chocolate together, whisking until smooth.
  • Whisk in eggs (mixture may seize), then whisk in coffee. Stir in chia seed mixture until well combined. Stir in chocolate chunks.
  • Spread batter in prepared pan and bake 15 to 16 minutes for a fudgier consistency or 18 to 20 for a cakier consistency.
  • Remove and let cool completely in pan.
  • Remove brownies from pan by grasping the overhanging parchment and lifting carefully. Cut into 16 squares.

Lemon Chia Seed Pancakes with Roasted Strawberries

These scrumptious pancakes are by Maria & Josh from Two Peas and Their Pod.

Original Post: http://www.twopeasandtheirpod.com/lemon-chia-seed-pancakes-with-roasted-strawberries

For the Roasted Strawberries:

  • 1 lb. fresh strawberries, hulled and cut in half
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon sugar in the raw

For the Lemon Chia Seed Pancakes:

  • 2 cups white whole wheat flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • Zest of 2 large lemons
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup Land O Lakes® unsalted melted butter, cooled
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup chia seeds
  • Land O Lakes® Butter with Canola Oil, for serving

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. In a medium bowl, combine the strawberries, lemon juice, and sugar. Toss to combine. Pour strawberries on a greased baking sheet and roast for 20 minutes. Stir the strawberries and roast for an additional 7-10 minutes, until the strawberries are soft and juicy.
  • While the strawberries are roasting, make the pancakes. In a small bowl, combine the sugar and lemon zest. Rub together with your fingers until lemon is fragrant.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar/lemon mixture, baking powder, soda, and salt. In a small bowl, whisk together buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, lemon juice, and vanilla. Add wet ingredients to the flour mixture and stir just until combined. Do not over mix. Gently stir in the chia seeds.
  • Heat a griddle or pan to medium low heat. Coat with cooking spray. Drop about a 1/4 cup of batter onto heated skillet. Cook until surface of pancakes have some bubbles and a few have burst, 1 to 2 minutes. Flip carefully with a spatula, and cook until browned on the underside, 1 to 2 minutes more. Continue making pancakes until the batter is gone. Serve warm with Land O Lakes® Butter with Canola Oil and roasted strawberries.

Review Of Maybelline Blushed Nudes Pallete

makeup, Uncategorized

Hello my beautiful readers,

How have you all been doing? I know it’s been a while since I last blogged on here, I’m really sorry about that but with the whole moving process I’ve just been so exhausted. I definitely underestimated how much work goes into moving until I actually got started. I can with great satisfaction say that we have finally finished removing everything and cleaning our old house, so that’s at least one thing checked of the list. Now all that’s left to do is make our current house feel more like home.

I can already tell this will included copious amounts of time spent on Pinterest searching through home decor pins. If any of you would like to spend time pinning home decor with me then feel free to add me on Pinterest. 🙂

I’ll stop rambling now and actually get into what this post is originally about. For today I wanted to do a review of the Maybelline Blushed Nudes Palette. I’ll be sharing with you a list of some of the pros and cons I have of this palette.

  • Beautiful shades of colors. They’re very versatile for both day and night.
  • Nice pigmentation. The colors look really good when you apply them plus they will stay on for a good portion of the day, taken into account you don’t rub your eyes.
  • The palette isn’t to big so you can carry it around with you in your purse or clutch.
  • You receive two sponge brushes with the palette which are really handy when you want to apply shadow to the inner corners of your eyes.
  • The colors look really good on a number of different skin tones, so you don’t have to worry about them washing you out.
  • Great palette for beginners or for anyone who likes having a good quality basic palette.

  • If you rub your eyes it will take off all the eye shadow.
  • With a few of the colors you have to add a few layers for the color to appear more visible.
  • It’s not the best palette for anyone who is really into makeup and is looking to invest in very high quality eye shadow palettes, there are better out there.
  • Some of the colors look identical to each other when you apply them.

I would give this palette a 7/10. I think it’s the perfect palette for anyone who is just starting out with makeup or for anyone who just wants a nice quality palette to use from time to time. I personally love it, I don’t wear makeup very often and I just wanted something that I could have to use when I felt like getting more glamed up then usual. This palette is perfect for those times!

I hope you find this review helpful in any way. Let me know your thoughts on this palette in the comments below, I would love to hear from you! I’ll talk to you all in my next post 🙂

I really loved the dress I was wearing, it’s so cute especially when you pair it up with the bush and cows. 🙂 I mean what’s not to love!

Amal Clooney: Cannes Film Festival

fashion, makeup, outfit of the day, Uncategorized

Hello my beautiful readers 🙂

I have loved watching this years Cannes Film Festival these past few weeks. From admiring the gorgeous red carpet looks to hearing such talented, accomplished directors, screenwriter, actors and actresses talk about their work & upcoming movies, it has really been a marvelous event to watch!

Everyone looked amazing, I’ve got to say. Some of my favorite looks were worn by Blake Lively, Aishwarya Rai, Anna Kendrick, Julia Roberts and of course Amal Clooney. Her whole entire look I would say was my favorite of the whole bunch. She looked stunning, very feminine, classy and old Hollywood.

Amal wore this beautiful, light yellow, silk one shoulder dress by Atelier Versace. When I first saw this dress it straight away reminded me of similar dress Grace Kelly wore in To Catch A Thief. I will try to find a photo of her & link it down below!

Grace Kelly White Dress

If you look really closely you can tell that the form fitting of the dress and the draping of the fabric are really really similar to each other! Let me know what you think, do they look similar to you?

Now we get to her makeup! As you can see from the pictures she chose to keep within the theme and went for a classic, old Hollywood makeup look. Neutral eyes with a bold red lip.

amal-clooney-cannesI also did a makeup tutorial on this look which I will link down below in case any of you want to try to recreate this makeup look at home!

So that is all for this post! I would love to know what was your favorite look from the Cannes Film Festival, let me know in the comments below! I’ll talk to you all in my next post!
