Natalie Portman Dior 2013 Inspired Daytime Look

NEW VIDEO IS UP!!

This has probably been one of my favorite videos to film so far. And not only because I got to recreate one of my favorite actresses campaigns but also because I got to do this as a collab with a fellow Youtuber, the very talented Jasmina Bharwani.

So the way we did the collab is I recreated Natalie Portman’s Dior campaign from 2013, while she recreated her campaign from 2016.

As you can see from the top photos her 2013 Dior campaign was very feminine and girly whilst her 2016 one was more sexy and sophisticated.

I ended up creating a daytime look inspired by her 2013 campaign while Jasmina created an evening look inspired by her 2016 campaign. Both videos I’ll add somewhere on here so you can check them out!

I love the way both videos turned out and I hope you love them just as much!!!

NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS_

Hello my beautiful readers,

🎉 HAPPY NEW YEAR!! 🎉

I hope you’ve all had a wonderful start to the year!

With the new year also comes new years resolutions for so many of us. Now while I love the idea of new year resolutions, improving ourselves and doing things we’ve always wanted to try, I also think there not the most proactive. What I mean to say is, when we come up with these new years resolutions at the end of the year, we spend so much time thinking about what our ultimate goal for the year will be and so little time if any on planning the little steps needed to help us reach this goal.

This is probably the number one reason why so many of us fail with our resolutions. We haven’t prepared or planned the most important part.

What I wanted to share with you today is my favorite way of planning those little steps. It’s called monthly habits. I got the idea from a video I watched a couple years ago by Alex Ikonn, I’ll actually link it here so you can watch it. In the video he talks about how at the start of every month he tries to implement one good habit into his life. The habits can be anything, they could be not checking social media after 10 o’clock, waking up at 6am every morning or dedicating 20 minutes to reading every day, the choices are endless.

Now you can choose either to do random different good habits for the year like the ones I just mentioned or you can make them more specific to your goal for the year. To show what I mean I made a little planner/schedule of the year with the habits of that month next to it. For the example I used Learning Photography as the new years resolution..

As you can see every month I’ve added a habit or challenge that will help me learn photography and really better myself at it. You’ll be making this same exact planner/schedule except instead of “learn photography” you’ll add your goal and then make the habits or challenges specific to that.

Just grab a book or a piece of paper, write it all down and then stick it somewhere you know you’ll see it everyday. It’s as easy as that!

The next step is putting in the hard work, patience and time into accomplishing these little steps. Give it all you’ve got and don’t be to hard on yourself if you make a mistake or don’t reach your goal for the day, there is always tomorrow!

The Wonderful Benefits of Chia Seeds + 2 Delicious Recipes

How are you all doing this fine day! For today I wanted to talk with you about Chia seed and all of it’s wonderful health benefits.

Chia seed is an amazing superfood that is both inexpensive and very simple to add into your daily diet. You can add them to your salads, cereal or oatmeal, yogurt, cakes, pancakes, drinks and so much more. Chia seeds are very versatile because they are flavorless. It doesn’t matter if your putting them in either a sweet or savory dish or drink they won’t change how it tastes only the texture.

Now whilst Chia seeds may be flavorless they are however packed with a bunch of amazing health benefits! Some I’ll list below..

Some of the wonderful health benefits of Chia seeds are….

  1. Packed full of antioxidants. They actually contain 3x more antioxidants then blueberries
  2. Helps you feel fuller, which is a huge help if you have trouble with over eating
  3. Keep your hair, skin and nails healthy and strong
  4. High in Potassium
  5. High in Calicum
  6. High in Iron
  7. High in Omega-3 fatty acids
  8. High in Magnesium
  9. Contain more niacin then corn, rice and soy
  10. Strengthens the immune system
  11. Boosts your energy levels
  12. Helps with weight loss

Now we’ve reached my favorite part of this post, THE RECIPES!!

It was pretty difficult choosing only two recipes to feature on this post, just search “chia seed recipes” on Google and you’ll see why, but since space was limited I ended up choosing two recipes I think will appeal to everyone since they are two classics: brownies and pancakes.

These two recipes I got of the sites All Day I Dream About Food and Two Peas And Their Pod. Maria, Josh and Carolyn are so creative and talented with the content they put out. Their recipes are always so eye catching and mouth watering, I could honestly spend hours going through their site.

On the top I’ve made their site names clickable so you can go straight to their sites if you want to check out more of the recipes they’ve shared and learn more about them.

Mocha Chocolate Chunk Chia Seed Brownies

This delicious brownie recipe is by Carolyn Ketchum from All Day I Dream About Food.

INGREDIENTS

  • ¾ cup Chia Seed Meal (about ½ cup whole seeds – I grind them in my coffee grinder)
  • ¾ cup Swerve Sweetener or other Erythritol
  • ½ tsp Baking Soda
  • ¼ tsp Salt
  • ½ cup Butter
  • 3 oz Unsweetened Chocolate
  • 4 large Eggs
  • ¼ cup strongly brewed Coffee
  • 2 oz Dark Chocolate Chunks (70 to 90% cacao)

METHOD

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9 x 9 square baking pan. Line with parchment paper, with some overhanging the sides for easy release. Grease parchment.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together chia seed meal, sweetener, baking soda and salt.
  • In a large saucepan over low heat, melt butter and chocolate together, whisking until smooth.
  • Whisk in eggs (mixture may seize), then whisk in coffee. Stir in chia seed mixture until well combined. Stir in chocolate chunks.
  • Spread batter in prepared pan and bake 15 to 16 minutes for a fudgier consistency or 18 to 20 for a cakier consistency.
  • Remove and let cool completely in pan.
  • Remove brownies from pan by grasping the overhanging parchment and lifting carefully. Cut into 16 squares.

Lemon Chia Seed Pancakes with Roasted Strawberries

These scrumptious pancakes are by Maria & Josh from Two Peas and Their Pod.

INGREDIENTS

For the Roasted Strawberries:

  • 1 lb. fresh strawberries, hulled and cut in half
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon sugar in the raw

For the Lemon Chia Seed Pancakes:

  • 2 cups white whole wheat flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • Zest of 2 large lemons
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup Land O Lakes® unsalted melted butter, cooled
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup chia seeds
  • Land O Lakes® Butter with Canola Oil, for serving

METHOD

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. In a medium bowl, combine the strawberries, lemon juice, and sugar. Toss to combine. Pour strawberries on a greased baking sheet and roast for 20 minutes. Stir the strawberries and roast for an additional 7-10 minutes, until the strawberries are soft and juicy.
  • While the strawberries are roasting, make the pancakes. In a small bowl, combine the sugar and lemon zest. Rub together with your fingers until lemon is fragrant.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar/lemon mixture, baking powder, soda, and salt. In a small bowl, whisk together buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, lemon juice, and vanilla. Add wet ingredients to the flour mixture and stir just until combined. Do not over mix. Gently stir in the chia seeds.
  • Heat a griddle or pan to medium low heat. Coat with cooking spray. Drop about a 1/4 cup of batter onto heated skillet. Cook until surface of pancakes have some bubbles and a few have burst, 1 to 2 minutes. Flip carefully with a spatula, and cook until browned on the underside, 1 to 2 minutes more. Continue making pancakes until the batter is gone. Serve warm with Land O Lakes® Butter with Canola Oil and roasted strawberries.

Happy Holidays and New Year to you all!! I hope your holidays were filled with laughter, love and happiness!!

As you may have been wondering no I haven’t forgotten about my blog, I was just on vacation with my family and there was no internet were we were staying so I couldn’t upload a post on Tuesday & Friday like I usually do but I’m back today with a new post for you all!

Nature walking featuring Ants + Possums

Hello my beautiful readers,

How are you all doing today? After spending the whole week being surrounded by houses and buildings the only place I felt like spending my weekend at was somewhere in nature. I have always loved being surrounded by  nature, I find it’s the perfect place to relax and recharge.

Last weekend me and my family decided to head of to a park not to far from where we live and spend the day there. Usually when we go to this park we take a 5 -10 minute walk, take in the surroundings then head over to find a place to set up camp.

However this time around we decided to switch things up and go on an hour long walk. Which is still pretty short compared to our previous walks {the longest one we did was nearly clocking 3 hours}. I should add now,since it will play into the story later, that when I bush walk or basically do anything active I am usually in flip flops. I know not the most appropriate footwear for those occasions but what can I say I love being as close to barefoot as possible.

So we started our walk, we took in the lovely views of the open fields, inspected vintage machinery {I want to say a part of a grass cutter but I’m not sure}, we took photos, my dad and me went grass picking near a lake {for my cat, he really loves his grass}, and we also tried to take photos with some ducks that happen to be in the lake. The photos didn’t turn out that great since every time we would get near they would go running or should I say swimming 😀

Now we get to the interesting part of the story. As we were nearing the end of our walk my dad spotted in a tree a few steps from the path two possums. They were two of the cutest, smallest, furry little sweethearts with these little heads that were just jjdjfdbhs! They were just so so cute!!

I, like the rest of my family, was to busy staring at them to realize I was standing right next to a ants nest. You can imagine my horror when one of them bite me on my big toe.

It wasn’t the greatest feeling. My toe kept throbbing the whole time and it honestly felt like it was gonna swell up to twice it’s size. Thankfully there was a tap close by. After sticking my toe under the faucet of cold water for 5 minutes it finally started to feel somewhat back to normal. {Aside from the occasional throbbing pain}.

Aside from the ant bite it was still an amazing day! I highly recommend the next time you have free time to go and spend some time in nature 😀

Just remember wear appropriate shoes when nature walking and watch out for ants nests when looking at furry creatures in trees.

The Christmas Tag

Happy Holidays to you all!

To kick of the holiday season on here I thought I would do the Christmas Tag. I have seen a bunch of people do this tag both on here and on Youtube and I thought it would be such a fun post to do. Let’s get into it!

1. What is your favorite Christmas film?

It’s a toss up between the first two Home Alone films and the Santa Clause franchise. I love watching those films when the holiday season comes around.

2. Have you ever had a white Christmas?

Yes. However I was in Serbia at the time so we didn’t celebrate Christmas on Dec. 25 but the 7th of January.

3. Where do you usually spend your holiday?

I usually spend it at home with my family since all my cousins and other extended family members are in Serbia.

4. What is your favorite Christmas song?

My favorites Christmas songs are All I want for Christmas Is you by Mariah Carey and Carol of the Bells. I always get goose bumps listening to that song. The one I listen to is the version sung by Jessica Simpson, what version do you like listening too? Let me know in the comments.

5.Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

No only on Christmas morning. However I have seen people buy pajamas for everyone in their family to open on Christmas eve which sounds like so much fun. I really want to start doing that.

6. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?

Rudolph, Vixon, Prancer, Donna, Blitzen, Dasher, that’s all I know! Did I get any of them right?

7. What holiday traditions are you looking forward to the most this year?

We don’t really have any holiday traditions unless you count watching the first two Home Alone movies on Christmas eve. We’ve done that ever since I was a kid.

8. Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

Unfortunately fake. I would love to get a real one but it wouldn’t last long in the heat plus they are so expensive to buy.

9. What is your all-time favorite holiday food/sweet treat?

It would have to be candy canes. I always wait until it’s the holiday time to eat them.

10. Be honest: Do you like receiving gifts or giving gifts better?

While I do enjoy receiving gifts over the years I’ve grown to love giving gifts more. I love spending time putting the gifts together then seeing peoples faces when they open them 🙂

11. What is the best Christmas gift you ever received?

It would have to be the Princess Fiona princess dress I got when I was little. I had just seen Shrek and I wanted to be Princess Fiona so badly. I would braid my hair like hers and I would only answer to  Princess Mirjana. I was so happy when on Christmas morning I opened up my present and there was a princess dress just like hers.

12. What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

That would be New York! I have seen so many photos and the whole city looks so magical that time of year all decorated in lights and covered in snow.

13. Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?

I would say I’m an average wrapper at best.

14. Most memorable Holiday moment?

Me and my brother playing together with the toys we just got that Christmas morning.

15. What made you realize the truth about Santa?

I can’t remember exactly when I learnt about Santa but I think it was around the time when I wrote a really late letter to Santa {on Christmas Eve} telling him what I wanted, I gave it to my mum to send, which she claims she did even though I didn’t see her leave the house the whole day then the next morning when I woke up everything I asked for was under the tree. It was around then I started to catch on to the fact that Santa was in fact my mum and dad.

16. Do you make New Years resolutions? Do you stick to them?

I do make New Years Resolutions every year and no I’ve yet to complete any of them. However I am sooo close to completing the resolution I made for this year {paint 20 paintings} so I’m thinking this is the year I finally complete a resolution. 😀

17. What makes the Holidays so special for you?

That would have to be my friends and family. I wouldn’t want to spend the holidays with anyone else but them.
